Assigment 2:TV Advert Analysis

TV advert analysis The TV advert is for a new range of sure deodorant for men. The ad is being made to draw a new audience to the product and to appeal to a new crowd of people who will want to buy the product. The advert is a stand-alone video with the intention to make people aware that this is the best product of its type on the market. The style of the advert is humorous in the way that we tried to get the message across and appeal to the target audience we had in mind. In filming we tried to vary our use of camera angles and use as many as we could when we filmed. In editing we also used stills and text on screen to display the new slogan at the end of the advert. In the advert we tried to appeal to the target audience by creating a humorous and interesting style of advert which would hopefully draw the viewer in and convince them of this being the best product of its kind that you can get. The advert follows AIDA in that we are trying to create interest from the viewer and promote action by giving the example of an athlete using the product in our advert. Lighting wasn’t an issue when filming as the room we filmed in was already well lit. the problems that occurred were more in the capturing sound as the microphone we used for filming didn’t pick up the audio as well as we would have hoped. Also, another problem with the audio occurred when we began the editing process as we planned to use background music, but this slightly drowned out the audio of the dialogue in the film. Overall after changing the levels of the audio we got around this problem in the end. We used various camera angles in the filming process which was mainly a mix of long shots, close ups and side view shots. We also took a still shot of the product we rebranded to use at the end of the advert. In the still shot of the advert we also added text on screen which was the new slogan for the product. As our advert was based around sports and our target audience being mainly athletes we decided to shoot the advert in the changing rooms at college. We also dressed as athletes to create the impression more of who this product is best for. Creating the feel of a sports setting as much as we could in the video was important for us especially for us to appeal to the target audience. When editing the video, it was important to make sure there were no problems with continuity and also was important to make sure the audio was clear enough after adding background music. Also, when editing we had to cut certain parts of filming from the video as the video would have been too long with all shots included. Fortunately, after cutting certain shots from the film it didn’t affect the continuity in the advert. We didn’t add any sounds effects to the video so all the audio, aside from the background music, is what we captured when filming which is all dialogue.
