Assignment 3: Research

3MW research For my 3-minute wonder style documentary I am going to make an observational style documentary which will focus on the history of great Yarmouth and I also plan to show a comparison between night and day of the town. For my video I want to interview some people who live in the town and get their opinions on the town currently and its history. My main focus for the documentary is to look at the history of the town and show the changes the town has made over the years. A direct comparison between Great Yarmouth from the late 19th century to now shows a massive difference as you would expect, this is something I want to include in my documentary and I also want to include stills to display the changes that the town has made over time. The photos below show the changes Great Yarmouth seafront has made from the early 20th century to now and this is the idea I want to incorporate into my documentary. As far as documenting the difference between night and day, my idea for this came from my interest in seeing the comparison. This is an idea that I have seen used in other people work and I found it interesting when seeing the comparison between the same place at different times and that it shows a different side to the same place. In my documentary I want to film in daytime certain areas of Great Yarmouth and film the same areas during the night. I also have thought about the idea of creating a short time lapse video but I am not sure about whether I will be able to do this at the moment.
